Black Forest Cake

Best Ever Chocolate Cake-Lynn's Recipe

Chocolate Cake
1 1/2 cups Sugar
2 cups All Purpose Flour
1 1/2 tsp Baking Powder
1 1/2 tsp Baking Soda
1 tsp Salt
3/4 cup Cocoa
2 Eggs
1 cup Buttermilk (or Homo Milk)
1/2 cup Canola Oil
1 Tbsp Vanilla
1 cup Boiling Water (or Boiling Coffee)

1 can of Cherry Pieces

Whipping Cream
2 cups Whip Cream
3/4 cup White Sugar
1 tsp Vanilla

This is my favorite chocolate cake recipe.
By changing the frosting, you can change the flavor of this wonderful cake.
I will post different frostings under my icing recipes.

Preheat oven to 350'F.

Place the flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and cocoa powder in a large bowl and mix them together.

Add eggs, vanilla oil, and milk to the dry mixture and blend together.

Grease and flour two 9 inch bake pans.

Add boiling water or boiling coffee while the mixer is on.  Mix until well blended.

Pour chocolate cake batter into cake pans.  Place in preheated oven for 30-40 minutes.

The cake is done when a toothpick is placed into the middle of the cake and it comes out clean.

Allow them to cool in the pans for 5 minutes and then transfer them to a cooling rack.
Cool completely before placing them in fridge or freezer.

I cover them with celphane and place into freezer until your to make them into a cake.
These freeze great and can be made ahead for hot summer days or for a quick and easy dessert.

Another way is to use the batter is to make them into cupcakes.  Line the muffin pans with paper liners.

To make them into a Black Forest Cupcakes, add a little batter to the paper cups
and then a small amount of cherry pie filling.

Cover the filling by pouring more of the chocolate cake batter.
Bake them for 20-30 minutes, tops will bounce back when touched.

Use a spoon to help remove them from the muffin pans and let them cool completely on wire rack.

You can also place these into the freezer in a Tupperware to be taken out later.
These are great to keep for lunches, only taking one out at a time or for a pick-nick at the beach!

Whipping Cream Recipe

Place all ingredients into a cold bowl.
Whip them all up until white peaks form.

I didn't make the whipping cream because I put the cake together yet.
I will update this recipe as soon as I have company and put it together.

To put the cake together, spread 3/4 of the can of cherry pie filling on top of one of the cakes.
Place the other cake on top.
Cover the sides and top with the whipping cream and add the rest of the pie filling on top of the whipping cream.

There are more pictures to come soon...
